For years I watched this forgotten tractor rest under the tree where the farmer had left it after the harvest. I always said I would paint it someday and so I did, in 1974. I painted it as a Father’s Day gift for my husband. several years later prints were made of the painting and won an award for excellence in graphic. The print now hangs in the John Deere Museum with letters of appreciation from fans. The title is The Old John Deere, Retired. And presented as retirement gifts at dinners. The nostalgic scene painted at sunset captures the essence of end of day, work is done, all is well theme. The clear pink and pale blue sky is reminiscent of a perfect day.
