O, Christmas Tree (Horizontal)

from $21.95

Archival Reproduction On Canvas

When do we witness magic the most? Where does all the glitter, gold and sparkle show the most? On a Christmas tree and my tribute to the Christmas Tree has become a tradition. The glitter I add, makes the tree light up and enhance the room where the painting is hung.

The first painting was done 20 years ago. It was a large canvas and contained one simple tree. No decorations, no glitter, no lights. About two years later I painted another tree, just as big, but added the Christmas decorations. All the while I was painting the portraits I was thinking of my Nana's Christmas Tree, much too tall for the room. The top touched the ceiling and there was barely enough room for the star. There were bubble lights and tinsel. The real tinsel that they don't use on trees any more. I don't remember why. As child the tree was amazingly beautiful. The ornaments were delicate and old. I don't know how many portraits of Christmas Trees I've painted, but everyone who has one, says they don't take them down after Christmas, they leave them up all year.
